Charles Darr

Charles Darr is a Chief Researcher at the New Zealand Council for Educational Research (NZCER), where he leads work on assessment, curriculum, and learning progress. He plays a conceptual leadership role in the Curriculum Insights and Progress Study and has long been involved in developing and maintaining NZCER’s assessment tools, including those widely used in primary and intermediate schools.

Charles regularly works with different agencies to advise on assessment design and use. He is also a frequent presenter and writer on assessment issues in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Before joining NZCER in 2003, Charles taught for ten years in intermediate and primary school settings.
